Project: The Urban Canopy
A physics model of Midtown Manhattan that solves heat wall by wall and floor by floor, across 5,329 buildings and every hour of the year. For each building it estimates surface temperature, the energy needed to hold 24 °C indoors, and the hours each year the envelope fails to do it. It then turns that into a costed plan: which buildings to fix first, which measures to use on which façades, and what each one saves.
